Funny Obama Cartoons: The Money Tree

I did this cartoon as a result of listening and reading some news reports about the dollar and its recent decline. I also was thinking about all the spending that is going on at a national and local level and allegedly there are talks of more stimuli being discussed beyond the first couple of rounds. I realize that dollars are being printed constantly and have been since before President Obama took office but since he’s the current President he gets to be in the cartoon. Anyway, I was thinking that some day down the road with all this printing going on there will be nothing left on the tree in a way, meaning that the dollar will be so diluted in the market place that it will be relatively worthless and it won’t really matter if the printing presses are going at break neck speed. What then? What will the answer to the problem be? That is where this cartoon idea came from. Enjoy the cartoon and have a great day.

Funny Obama Cartoons: Pick up a Mop

I got the idea for this cartoon from a speech that president Obama was giving in San Francisco I believe. I’m not sure of the place but Nancy Pelosi was mentioned so I just make that assumption. Anyway, in the speech he talks about being handed a mess and working on cleaning it up and says for the people who are criticizing the way in which he is doing it to “Pick up a Mop and help out”. Somewhere else in some other news report either before or close after that clip on the speech about the Mop there was a news report of talk about a second stimulus plan for the economy in congress. I thought it was interesting that any talk of more stimulus would be happening now only because the first stimulus, or I guess it would really be the second stimulus if you consider the TARP to be stimulus, has not been fully spent yet. I wonder what the plan is for the rest of the first stimulus. Anyway, those two things kind of collided together in my head and this cartoon was a result of that collision. Enjoy the cartoon and have a great day.

Political Cartoon Humor, Toxic Assets

I have been watching as they announce this toxic asset plan lately and how the market, (usually a forward indicator), reacted to it. Very interesting stuff, a private public plan that is intended to remove some of the assets that are clogging up bank balance sheets in the latest attempt to free up the credit market. At first glance it looks like a great plan but I have gotten used to trying to look at unintended consequences over the past couple years. I do think it can achieve what the administration is hoping to achieve, however, it is trying to create a market where there is no current market. The derivative market that helped get us into the poor economy we are currently experiencing is an example of creating a market where there was no market. My point is simply this, if the wizards of Wall Street managed to mess it up then what in the world makes anyone think that our government has the talent to manage it. As I said the law of unintended consequences usually prevails and that is what made me think that the public will somehow get the short end of the stick or be on the hook for the whole thing as well and also gave me the idea for this cartoon. Enjoy and have a great day.

Political Cartoon Humor, The Use of Political Capital

There has been a lot of talk this week about the AIG bonuses, Government Budgets, the economy and a variety of other subjects including the President going on late night TV, another first for a standing president. I thought of this cartoon because of this late night TV appearance. It seems to me that whenever a perceived crisis, conspiracy or whatever you want to call it, the president leaves Washington and to cash in on some of that popularity capital that he has been given from his followers. The reason I say this is that he remains popular as a president while the policies seem to be loosing traction which would indicate that he has done a good job of separating himself from his policies. If that is the plan it seems to have worked thus far. Anyway, it gave me the idea for this cartoon. Enjoy and have a great day.

Down at the Government Think Tank

I was thinking about all the missteps and gaffs as well as all the examples of people in government posturing for their next election cycle only to have to re-posture because the first one ended up putting them on the un-popular side of an issue. It must be mind numbing to be a politician right now.

(Wait…wait….did I hear a collective “poor babies”……..oh no sorry my mistake…..it was just crickets.)

Anyway, back to my point. I did this cartoon several years ago and it seemed to fit in the context of a Government Think Tank or Lack of Think Tank. Enjoy and have a great day.

Political Cartoon Humor, Republicans and Democrats on Pork Bills

This cartoon came as a result of a lot of different stimulus. First is the talk about the Governments domestic budget both now and in the future but most of all the 8500 plus ear marks of “pork” that’s in its current form. I have been listening to the back and forth about how one side defends it by saying its last year’s business even though it runs through September of this year. I guess the general consensus on Capitol Hill is that we the American people are all not intelligent enough to figure that one out. Bottom line is that it does not matter what year it is for, promises are promises and President Obama made the promise to the American people that pork or ear marks would not be part of his administration. Oh well, I guess we are all suppose to shrug like we have so many times in the past and give them a pass like so many times in the past. The second stimulus came from all this talk about how officials are using things like twitter and the like to communicate to …….I’m not sure who. I thought it would be funny to put them in a setting similar to the pop-culture crowd. What would they say? Well, here is the result of all of that mess. Enjoy and have a great day.

The death of common sense

I got the idea for this cartoon from the article that follows:

London Times: Obituary of the late Common Sense
Published by Jonathan Farrington at 6:57 pm under General

Travelling in the UK these past few weeks has given me a much clearer indication of just how much social standards have deteriorated and just why I have become “a grumpy old man”
Every time I visit, I think to myself “I must leave these shores - and soon” and then, rather like awakening from a bad dream, I realise that I already have and being here is just a temporary inconvenience. You cannot imagine the relief.
Most of all, I have witnessed the death of “common sense”

    Here is his obituary:

Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, Common Sense, who has been with us for many years.

No one knows for sure how old he was, since his birth records were lost long ago in bureaucratic red tape. He will be remembered as having cultivated such valuable lessons as:Knowing when to come in out of the rain; why the early bird gets the worm; Life isn’t always fair; and maybe it was my fault. Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don’t spend more than you can earn) and reliable strategies (adults, not children, are in charge). His health began to deteriorate rapidly when well-intentioned but overbearing regulations were set in place.

Reports of a 6-year-old boy charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate; teens suspended from school for using mouthwash after lunch; and a teacher fired for reprimanding an unruly student, only worsened his condition.

Common Sense lost ground when parents attacked teachers for doing the job that they themselves had failed to do in disciplining their unruly children. It declined even further when schools were required to get parental consent to administer sun lotion or an Aspirin to a student; but could not inform parents when a student became pregnant and wanted to have an abortion.

Common Sense lost the will to live as the churches became businesses; and criminals received better treatment than their victims. Common Sense took a beating when you couldn’t defend yourself from a burglar in your own home and the burglar could sue you for assault. Common Sense finally gave up the will to live, after a woman failed to realize that a steaming cup of coffee was hot. She spilled a little in her lap, and was promptly awarded a huge settlement.

Common Sense was preceded in death by his parents, Truth and Trust; his wife, Discretion; his daughter, Responsibility; and his son, Reason.

He is survived by his four stepbrothers; I Know My Rights, I Want It Now, Someone Else Is To Blame, and I’m A Victim. Not many attended his funeral because so few realized he was gone.

(With gratitude for the collusion, to a fellow “grumpy old man” living down under - my very good friend and leadership guru, Kevin Dwyer)

Political Cartoon Humor, How will Obama-nomics affect evolution?

I have been listening to everyone cut up the budget that has been presented with increases and cuts. It is interesting to see someone try to defend it. There are a couple of things that make it interesting to me. One, the numbers that are being reported state that there is an overall increase in spending. Setting aside the earmarks that were said would not be part of Obamas budget but have somehow found a home there from both parties, it is interesting to me that the president has said that many things have been cut back as if that is a good thing based on the total amount being larger than last year. (The rationalization is truly frightening)

Question: How do these people define fiscal responsibility? Anyone…..anyone…..Buller……Buller

The second thing is that I seem to remember a line by line look at the budget and using a scalpel rather than an axe being portrayed during the campaign. Did the scalpel get lost in the move or maybe it is just a scalpel that is as sharp as a butter knife. Not sure but it got me thinking of where this might all be heading so being in a cynical and sarcastic mood, I came up with this cartoon. Enjoy and have a great day all.
