I caught a little bit on the subject of the x-ray deals and the new pat down policy that the poor TSA folks are going to have to start doing and thought I would throw up something as ridiculous as the notion of a "new pat down" policy implies. Enjoy and have a great day.
I had this cartoon idea from some of the conversations about inflation and the general theory that printing money and increased spending can lead to inflation causing goods and most likely services to become inflated. Simply stated, the dollar I have in my pocket today that I use to buy something off the dollar menu becomes worth less so that same dollar menu item might cost me a dollar and a half or two dollars depending on the extend of the inflation. The item does not rise in value it just takes me more dollars to get it, that’s all. Anyway, it has been reported that the Federal Reserve has been printing money and injecting it into the system for a while now so I thought I would do a cartoon depicting a conversation between the two people who have some control over the monetary policies of this country right now, as if the inflation has already happened. Enjoy and have a great day.
I had this cartoon idea based on watching the Governors news conference where he divulged his affair and some of the what, why and where’s surrounding it and his “disappearance”. I guess hypocrisy is one of those things that is kind of the norm in politics these days. My personal take on it is.......how could you trust a guy who apparently ran on family values, then, violates those values by doing something like this? I will take it a little further by saying that if someone is willing to betray the people he or she knows and loves, how do you think he or she could treat or violate the people that he or she represents in public office, many of which he or she has no personal relationship with? In other words, Should or could an elected official be trusted with the peoples business after making mistakes that cross certain lines? It is a question based in morality and values which by virtue depends on individuals and their own personal morals and values……so the question becomes where do the people of South Carolina and to a larger degree the Nation sit on the “Moral Compass”, so to speak? I guess time will tell what everyone is willing to put up with. Anyway, the cartoon came from the coverage as well as some conversations I had this week with friends and family. Enjoy and have a great day.
I had this cartoon idea listening to the debate going on about this energy bill that was voted on as well as some of the back and forth in the media as of late. Some say that it will result in many job losses in a time when we just seem to be leveling out economically speaking. Others argue that it will create jobs in the future. There is also the debate about the cost of energy and what it will do. One side says it will increase the cost of energy significantly which ultimately will be passed on to the consumer causing more money to leave the pockets of everyone in America. Some also call this a kind of back door way to increase taxes on business but the cost is normally passed on to the consumer. Others say that it is a necessary step to decrease green house gasses in the whole climate change debate. Who knows for sure but this cartoon idea came from the fact that the President himself has acknowledged that the cost of energy will skyrocket I think was the word he used and with the normal cost of business usually getting passed through to the consumer, I thought….how could that affect the average person out there? This cartoon was a result of that line of thinking. Enjoy and have a great day.
I had this cartoon idea at the same time I had one about treasuries that I did a couple of weeks ago. I was listening to some reports on who buys our debt. Big surprise, China was the largest investor in our debt. I think the percent of debt that it owned was in the 40 percentile range. It seems strange to me that many if not most things are made in China these days and they are basically loaning us money to buy there stuff. I was thinking how cool it would be if that worked on a smaller scale like when I go to a fast food joint and get up to the counter and order my mega super duper, heart stopping, gut busting meal and say “Look, I’m going to have to borrow some cash in order to pay for this. In fact, if you could lend me about half, we can go ahead and do this deal.” That would be so cool. That’s where my thought process was when I came up with this cartoon. Enjoy and have a great day.
I had the idea for this cartoon during the second or third time North Korea came up in the news. I think it was the testing of nukes that gave me this idea. It would seem that they are going to do whatever it is they feel like doing. It could be a test for the current administration in which case it seems much of the world is jumping in on the test. It could also be some ploy for something in return. I have no idea but it seems that Kim Jong Il isn’t interested in what the rest of the world thinks about the future of North Korea with the launching of missiles, testing of nukes and whatever else he can think of to annoy those that want him to play nice. Then the U.N. gives strong words, as if such a thing is real or has had any long term affect on anyone except for those who make the attempt to appear as though they are playing nice. This cartoon idea came from all that mess. Enjoy and have a great day.
I have been trying to keep up with the news lately but I can only watch and listen to so much of it before I feel like I have to purge or something like that. This cartoon is based on some of the things that I happened to catch about the ideas, concerns and spewing on and on about the subject of Health Care Reform as the Obama administration see’s it. I was thinking about things like electronic records, not a bad idea, but one of the unintended consequences could be loss of data by accident or because the guy in charge of inputting it happens to be high on prescription drugs or getting minimum wage and you happen to suddenly end up with some kind of affliction on paper that the “free health insurance won’t cover”. Opps….oh well the slid rule guy’s have probably figured on a slight percentage in errors and those in power are fine with the small amount of collateral damage. The cartoon comes to us from the thought of cost and forcing people to live healthy lives…..how would they do it? I came up with this cartoon to illustrate how one person found out the hard way. Enjoy and have a great day.
I received the cartoon idea from someone I know. I only do other peoples ideas occasionally because I figure that they are not my idea but this one as well as a couple of others along the way struck me as something I just needed to do. After listening to the news reports on the “Date Night” It seemed relevant to me. You had one side of the media fawning over it a little and the other side railing about the cost and the economy and a host of other things but it was the cost side that brought this cartoon to life because of the comical angle of it. The Obama’s being intelligent people obviously knew there would be some kind of media attention on it, both positive and negative, or maybe they didn’t (who knows, who cares.) The point is that they probably did know and did it anyway which fits nicely into the premise of the cartoon. Enjoy and have a great day.
I thought of this cartoon as a result of listening to news reports over the past couple of weeks about inflation, the need to print money to pay for debt and even talk of hyper inflation. Then there was the report that stated that China was not interested in buying into the U.S. for the long term anymore. They apparently still purchase short term debt. It could be we are no longer an attractive investment or it could be some game to get better rates on the long term debt. Who knows? I also heard that apparently our Treasury Secretary…..you know the guy who had tax problems but runs the IRS…..yea that Treasury Secretary was in China giving a speech to some university students and received somewhat of a laughing ovation. I haven’t seen it for myself so I’m not sure if it is true or not, but I was just thinking, what if all that does happen and our Treasuries value goes down the toilet? What then? We will have a bunch of paper that is worth almost nothing in a world economy unless……in fly’s the idea for this funny cartoon. Enjoy and have a great day.
I did this cartoon as a result of a couple of clips I heard on the news. One was on Cap and trade and the cost of energy increases that will happen as a result of that type of action. A side thought I had is that there was once a not so small company from the past called Enron. I may have this wrong but it seems to me that they were in the business of trading energy and most people know how that all turned out. Anyway, the other little clip I heard while working on my drawings was the thought of having a national sales tax. I’m not sure if I heard it right or not but it sparked of John Q public in me. He just started spouting off all these things he is already taxed on as well as some things being discussed and wanted to share is views on what he feels all that taxation has gotten him thus far. He also wanted me to add “When are these yo-yo’s that we send to represent us going to learn?” Anyway, that’s enough out of him. Enjoy the cartoon and have a great day.
I was watching or I should say listening to the news this past week and some of the press on Nancy accusing the intelligence community of lying or at a minimum constantly misleading. I know that is suppose “misleading” is suppose to be something other than “lying” but the words are synonymous in my dictionary. I did not hear much from the rest of the democrat pool so I assume that they feel the same as the speaker, not sure. Then the republican machine comes out and all but says that Nancy is lying by asking for an investigation of the matter which last I heard was shot down. It’s all very interesting in a political maneuvering sort of way but I think the bottom line is that we the public and our needs are falling out of sight with all of this sibling rivalry going on. Is 2010 the time to hit the reset button on our elected officials? I guess time will tell. That is some of the thought process that went into the creation of this cartoon. Enjoy and have a great day.
I happen to be watching the day that Speaker Pelosi gave her very interesting press conference. I have no idea weather she was telling the truth or not the only thing I could surmise as she stumbled and bumble through it was that she was extremely nervous about something. I have only seen her in a couple of other press type situations and thought she was a confident speaker but I have not a clue what happened last week. It did seem out of character for her. Anyway, since it seems to be “in” to say that people are misleading people all the time on Capitol Hill and the out of character performance by Speaker Pelosi I did this cartoon. Sometimes I wonder if this stuff will ever stop…..probably not but I still wonder. I guess on a selfish note, given that I enjoy doing cartoons like this, I should just be thankful that it does. Hope you enjoy the cartoon and have a great day.
I had the idea for this cartoon after listening to all the news surrounding the office of Homeland Security and the intelligence community in general. I thought back to when Janet Napolitano threw out the word terrorism and replaced it with Man made Disasters or something along those lines as well as a couple other softer, kinder, gentler terms for the war on terror. It is interesting to watch as the exercise of being politically correct or whatever trying to change terms and words is, take place and the responses that follow. I am sure that there is some point to it but it escapes me personally but I will say that it is entertaining on a certain level. I did this cartoon with that in mind as well as the recent release of the criteria that was allegedly released then not released as to how law enforcement can determine if someone might be a possible domestic terrorist….oooops, I mean, “Someone living in the United States who could possibly be responsible for a Man Made Disaster.” Wow….I lost my kind and gentle politically correct side there for a second. Good thing I caught myself, someone might have taken offense….ha…ha. Anyway, that’s kind of where this Political humor cartoon comes from. Enjoy and have a great day.
I had the idea for this cartoon a week or so ago when the media was covering some of the particulars on Cap and Trade. During that same time frame there where reports on the “first dog”, Bo. The two of these things bumbled a jumbled around for a while as I listened to the positive and negatives on Cap and Trade. It is interesting to me, as for as the debate about carbon emissions go, that people think that it is going to make some spectacular difference. The only reason I say this is because even if we go through the pains involved in making all the energy changes, their is no way China, Russia and India which are large economies are in a position or even want to stop burning oil and coal as a chief energy source. My point is that the carbon emissions coming from these up and coming countries is most likely going to be far greater in the future than the US could ever accuse itself of in the arena of carbon emissions, just a thought. The result of all of this thought was this cartoon so enjoy and have a great day.
I was listening to the news about how the new administration decided it was best to let the head of GM go and our current treasury secretary say that is was a possibility that the head of a bank could also be a possibility for early retirement. It is interesting that government is making those decisions and not the boards of those companies. Don’t get me wrong, as far as the head of GM or some of the other heads of companies go, if there performance has been less than stellar for a decade or so then that is probably what should happen to them. I’m just not sure it should be a group of people which have, for the most part, not run any type of business entity. It is definitely very interesting to watch as is the reactions that seem to be bubbling up right now. It was these things that gave me the idea for this cartoon. Enjoy and have a great day.
I had the idea for this cartoon after a couple of things bumped tumbled and crashed around in my head for the past few months. I recall a congress person saying something to the effect of “nanny…..nanny….boo….booo” during the passing of President Obama’s stimulus package. A Democrat in congress said to the Republicans something like “we won so deal with it.” I just thought it was something you would hear at your kids tee ball game after one team had won. Anyway, that combined with what was in the bill and no one reading it before voting on it struck me as kind of funny in a way but also somewhat frightening too. I thought….”I wonder what it is like at a bar in Washington when they all get a few drinks in them….Do they take sarcastic shots at each other? I would have no way of knowing but this cartoon is what I thought that might look like. Enjoy and have a great day.
