Political Cartoons: Generational Theft

This cartoon idea came to me unfortunately more than one time during the past few years watching all the spending that has gone on. Things like using IOU’s in the social security fund to pay for other programs and other Ponsi scheme tactics are making it less and less likely those future generations will be unable to enjoy a quality of life that has been afforded to the current generations. I look at all this and wonder one, do our elected officials even think or care about it and two, if they do, what’s the plan or can there be a plan? Is it too far gone at this point and should we begin to prepare our children and children’s children for a lesser quality of life? Just some of the more serious thoughts that roll through my mind from time to time and this cartoon is a result of such thoughts. Enjoy and have a great day.

Charlie Rangel cartoons: Serendipity

I did this cartoon when I heard about the news where Charlie Rangel allegedly resubmitted some tax returns and somewhere up to $500,000 was found in a savings account or something along those lines. Charlie Rangel who is in charge of the committee that is responsible for writing tax code is no stranger to this type of attention as of late. It is just one story of many hypocrisy stories that has popped up in the town that seems to be building as one that is full of corruption, scams and just general misdeeds by people we sent there to represent us. Couple of things come to mind with regard to Rep. Charlie Rangel, One, Maybe the tax law that he has been busy writing is just too complex and should be scraped for something everyone can understand or two, Charlie Rangel is simply one of a growing number of unethical people running around the hill and should pay the price that anyone of us regular folk would have to pay in a similar situation. Whatever the case this elitism needs to be put to a halt and NOW. Hope you enjoy the cartoon and have a great day.

Political Cartoon Humor, John Q Public on Taxation and Representation

I did this cartoon as a result of a couple of clips I heard on the news. One was on Cap and trade and the cost of energy increases that will happen as a result of that type of action. A side thought I had is that there was once a not so small company from the past called Enron. I may have this wrong but it seems to me that they were in the business of trading energy and most people know how that all turned out. Anyway, the other little clip I heard while working on my drawings was the thought of having a national sales tax. I’m not sure if I heard it right or not but it sparked of John Q public in me. He just started spouting off all these things he is already taxed on as well as some things being discussed and wanted to share is views on what he feels all that taxation has gotten him thus far. He also wanted me to add “When are these yo-yo’s that we send to represent us going to learn?” Anyway, that’s enough out of him. Enjoy the cartoon and have a great day.

Political Cartoon Humor, Obama stimulus package and the burden (Part 2)

I guess based on some of the chatter across the news channels today it looks like taxes will be the first thing to be used to take care of the spending that is currently going on. The Bush tax cuts are said to be allowed to expire and a possibility of an increase on certain people. It is being reported that anyone making more than $250,000 a year can expect to pay more taxes. Interesting, I wonder if that is the current bar being used to determine if someone is “rich”. What makes me more curious is when that bar will be lowered and it is my belief that it will because I remember the bar being moved around during the campaign. It will be comical in a sick sort of way to see where it ends up as we get closer to Jan. 1st 2011 which is when the cuts are due to expire. A little less than 2 years from now which still raises the question how will the current monster spending be paid for. I predict that President Obama will give 95 percent of the middle class a tax cut (undefined amount) and after that one time all bets are off. I still come back to future generations as well as our selves having to carry the burden. Enjoy and have a great day.
