52 Books in 52 Weeks Challenge

(Essay Horror Stories contest runs through 11:59 pm tonight! See yesterday's post to enter! Prizes include a signed copy of my book and fun swag including bookmarks, calender magnets, mouse pads, and more!)

Okay, so I toyed with the idea of joining the 100 book challenge for this year. But, I barely made the 52 book challenge last year and only did that because I counted a crit partner's novel (hey...it's not published but is under contract and it WAS a whole book....and a very good one too!)

So, this year I'm going with the 52 books in 52 weeks challenge again. Which I always find more difficult than I expect, because I know I read more than 52 books a year. But, I can't count rereads....I can only count books I've never read before.

I'm off to a great start! It's only Jan 3rd and I already have 1 and a half books read :D

    Wanna join the challenge!?

I'll keep a running list of my books on my side bar like I did last year. I hope you join in!

Have you read any good books yet this year? I know we are only 3 days in but, come on.....I know some of you have!! :D

Winner of the Essay Horror Story contest will be posted tomorrow! And as entries are sparce (apparently the people I hang out with over here are a little strange like myself and enjoyed writing essays....though I forgot a few due dates and had a couple horror stories along the way) :D I'll probably just pull a winner from the comments left on that post (scroll down to Saturday's post for deets!) Details on our next game will go up Wednesday!

Monday RunDown

Well, it's Monday morning and I'm fighting off a cold...and have every intention of going back to bed as soon as I hit Publish on this post :D So, since my brain is a haze of nothingness at the moment, I thought I'd do a rundown of some important things coming up.

    1. Don't forget to head to the Operation Awesome Blog and become a follower for a chance to win 10 of my gently loved books and possibly a $20 gift certificate! Be sure to leave a comment on the post from yesterday either here or at OA. We are already up to 11 new followers which means I'm giving away at least 2 books so far.

    2. Since my book release date is creeping ever closer (eep!) annnnd since it comes right after the holidays, I decided I should probably start getting my epic celebrations organized. If you'd be interested in hosting me on my blog tour, please email me at authormichellemclean(at)yahoo(dot)com. I will have swag items and signed copies of books to giveaway along with the interview, guest post, review, or whatever you'd like to do with me :)

    3. Vote on the poll listed on the sidebar ---> I want to get an idea of what kinds of prize swag everyone would like to win. We are going to have some fun people, F.U.N.! :D

    4. Has anybody read any good books lately? I am actually going to make my 52 Books in 52 Weeks challenge this year (woohooo!) I read more than 52 books last year, but since I reread four or five very long series, I couldn't count those. I'm reading Rick Riordan's The Lost Hero right now and then I'm heading to the bookstore, so I need some suggestions! :D

And now, I must crash :) Have a happy Monday everyone!

Reading Challenge 2010

All right, so last year I didn't quite make my goal of 52 new books in 52 weeks. I certainly read at least that many books, but I did several repeats - like the Harry Potter series and the Sookie Stackhouse series, and Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series, among others.

Well, here we are in a new year and I am determined to make it this time! I'm already off to a good start, since our moving truck was so late and I had nothing to do other than sit around and read.

So, my list so far is:

    1. Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
    2. Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins
    3. Bed Rest by Sarah Bilston
    4. Goodnight Nobody by Jennifer Weiner

I think I have one more but my mind is blanking so I'll have to go check my bookshelves and see what new books I have there :) (update: Ha! The Heretic Queen by Michelle Moran. I knew I had another one in there :D Update 2: Found another one! Break No Bones by Kathy Reichs. Definitely on track for this year :) )

Right now, I am reading Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick - and am totally loving it.

And on my to-read shelf are The Queen Jade by Yxa Maya Murray, The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan, Brethren by Robyn Young, and Leonardo's Swans by Karen Essex. I've got more on my wish list, of course, but I think these will get me started :D

For updates, check out my side-bar. I'll keep a running tally.

How about you? What good books have you read lately? Up for a challenge? :D
